Phillip S. Wooten, CPA

“Lead by example.”

Since joining the RBC team in 2017, Phil has worn many hats in the tax department. He began as a senior tax manager, was promoted to tax director, and is now a partner. In his current position, Phil specialized in tax advisory and services for individuals and businesses. Phil has been a tax professional since 2003 and currently leads RBC’s Austin office.

Phil is often described by his coworkers as optimistic. He also values the discipline of patience as his favorite quote states, “what can’t be cured must be endured.” Although his high school aspiration was to be a professional skateboarder, Phil was inspired to pursue a career in accounting after working as an accountant for a small business.

Phil grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Even though he still cheers for his hometown Saints, Phil enjoys his current residence of Austin for all the activities and events the city hosts. When not at work, Phil can be found enjoying a hike on the Greenbelt or reading a literature or history book. He is a proud dad of three children and one grandchild.
